Registry pop-up menu

Registry pop-up menu is available with a right-click over the registry window (or with Alt+F10 in the same window). It lists the most important functions available to review and process registry data. This is the contents of the registry pop-up menu:

View - options for reviewing registry members

List elements - list all element titles associated with the currently selected registry member. This option can be used to view the elements that use a given registry member/object.

View element - view the first element on the list of element associated with the currently selected registry member. The element is displayed in the element window.

Go to element - go to the first element on the list of elements using the current member. Go to element acts like View element with this difference that the registry window is closed upon choosing Go to element.

Random pick - select a randomly picked member in the registry. This option is useful for randomly reviewing large registries for possible errors and irregularities in naming or object association.

Clear - move the focus from the list of elements to the list of members to the member combo-box or clear the combo-box or close the registry if combo-box is cleared. This is the same as pressing Esc.

Edit - edit the name of the current registry member or its translation.

Edit text - edit the name of the currently selected registry member.

Edit translation - edit the translation associated with the current member (only in translation registry).

Search and replace - search and/or replace texts in the registry.

Find - search for all substring in the names of registry members.

Find first - search for the first occurrence of a given substring in the registry (starting with the current position in the registry).

Find next - repeats the search of the substring after Find first.

Find and replace - replaces all given substrings in the registry with a new value

Apply filter - run a filter on the registry members. A filter can cut comments, transcriptions, delimiters, etc. and globally replace texts, etc. All that in one go. If you want to replace a number of strings (e.g. to adapt strings to another code page), use Apply filter instead of running Find and replace many times. See FILTERS directory on commercial CD-ROMs for examples of filters.

Feed one to browser - open a browser with all elements using the selected registry member. Note that due to performance reasons, only 500 users of a given member is registered. If there are more than 500 elements using the member, only the first 500 will be displayed.

Feed all to browser - open a browser with all elements using all currently displayed registry members. Again all members keep no more than 500 element entries on the list. That is why you cannot assume the browser lists all users of registry members.

Import files - makes it possible to import a number of files (e.g. WAV, BMP, etc.) directly into the registry.

Export as text - exports registry member names into a text file (e.g. for spellchecking)

Import text - imports registry member names from a text file created with Export as text (e.g. after spellchecking)

Tools - miscellaneous registry operations

Play - play the current object (e.g. sound, video, etc.)

Sort for frequency - sort the registry for the number of elements that use particular members

Sort for priority - sort the registry for member priority that reflects the total of ordinal numbers of elements using a given member divided by the size of associated file. This makes it easy to reduce the size of large registries by deleting largest files of lowest importance in the knowledge system

Internalize files - integrate external object files and files in SuperMemo 7

Recover - recover twin registry (at this moment this can only be useful for phonetic transcription registry)

Compute files size - compute the total size of files used by a given registry

Match to subset - select only members that are used by elements in a given element subset file

Select untranslated - (in text registry) select only members that have not yet been translated

Subset

Previous subset - open the previous registry subset (subset are created by Find, Match to subset, Select untranslated, etc.)

Next subset - open the next subset (if available)

Delete subset - delete the currently used registry subset

Close - close the registry window
